The A.E.S.F.A holds junior tournaments on monthly basis to showcase the young talents of players from the ages of 7’s to 12’s. The elite teams from within the state are invited to take part which shows the level of quality these youngsters offer. The junior tournaments are a fantastic way of compounding the skills and techniques players are taught through training and then performing them in match situations.
The junior tournaments throughout the year attract various onlookers such as scouts from around Australia. In order to find the next talented bunch of players this generation has to offer, we at the academy pride ourselves on our slogan "THE ACADEMY THAT OFFERS YOU MORE" this is evident with providing teams with the opportunities they require to become the elite players of the future.
"Sydney Junior Cup" is what the players should be aspiring to, the tournament takes place in October, the first week of the school holidays. It is aimed at being the biggest of the tournaments therefore crowning a decisive champion within their respective age groups. Under 9’s 10’s 11’s and 12’s on small pitches as per the new FFA format.
The matches themselves are played on pitches which are smaller therefore forcing the players to play within tight spaces; this increases the level of control and urgency of passing within small areas under pressure. (Check guidelines for more information) The hope to find Australia’s next rising star is a goal of ours at the academy, however the ultimate goal is to increase the level of skill and expression in the players, enjoy the day's events, and above all play the competitive football we know all teams posses.
